Another Mass Shooting Thwarted, However…
A man by the name of Samy Mohamed Hamzeh was arrested earlier this week for attempting to purchase machine guns. He was planning to undertake a mass shooting on a Masonic temple then somehow head to Israel and do something similar. Though the attack itself didn’t take place and the FBI arrested him, the detainment isn’t what stopped the shooting but the fact that he decided to call it off. This is one of those situations where the public just lucked out and it’s precisely things like this why we say to be ready at all times for anything.
Federal prosecutors charged 23-year-old Samy Mohamed Hamzeh on Tuesday with unlawfully possessing a machine gun and receiving and possessing firearms not registered to him.
The FBI recorded conversations between Hamzeh and two federal informants talking about an attack on a Masonic temple in Milwaukee, according to an affidavit setting out the evidence against Hamzeh. Federal defender Ronnie Murray didn't return email and voicemail messages Tuesday.
Hamzeh and the two informants traveled to a gun range on Jan. 19 and practiced with a pistol, the affidavit said. Afterward, they took a tour of a Masonic temple that federal authorities declined to identify. Continue Reading
