Prepping for the Real Life Threats

As far as prepping is concerned, the list of all the different threats can go on and on. From natural disasters to man-made threats to terrorist attacks and disease outbreaks, it seems that there is really an unending supply of chaos in the world that people can go through in the most unexpected times.

Although it is advisable for people to have their own assessment of threats and identify the disasters that can possibly affect them according to their lifestyle and geographic location, it just so happens that there are several threats that most of you ignore or are completely unaware of.

Below are the top real threats that a large chunk of the population tends to ignore.

The Threat of Cyber Wars: Cyber Attackers on the Loose

First on the list is a threat that is posed by people who would like to take down the whole system, the very system that is now increasingly becoming dependent on the internet and grid to operate. Ask any cyber-security expert, and he will surely tell you that the whole planet is under constant attack 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. It is just a matter of time before any of the attacks finally take out a massive part of the essential infrastructure.

Low-Tech Attacks on Power Grid

Aside from the cyber threats that can lead to serious power grid damages, there is also the growing threat of low-tech attacks that are meant to cripple the power infrastructure. Based on a study, a whole power grid can be easily shut down in a matter of minutes through small-scale attacks on just several electric transmission substations.

The Threat of Pandemic: Disease Outbreak That Can Go Large-Scale

With the Ebola crisis in 2014, the whole world has seen how equipped the people are when it comes to handling an actual pandemic outbreak. One case showed up but the whole system easily turned upside down. It seems obvious that no one at all government levels has a solid plan in place when it comes to dealing with this kind of emergency. Everyone is living in an interconnected world. The way that people live, interact and travel with one another can make it increasingly likely that people will also see a major disease outbreak anytime in the future.

Federalization and Militarization of Local and State Police Force

It is a serious threat that does not receive the right amount of attention that it truly deserves. Battlefield helicopters, tanks, armored vehicles that have high-power weapons, and drones all were once used exclusively by the military, but right now, they are finding their way to the hands of the local police forces in many parts of the world.

Real-Life Zombies

Did you know that zombies are real and you can find them everywhere? The figures are now becoming disturbing, with more people taking one prescription drug. In times of large-scale disasters where there is a shutdown on the delivery systems, what will happen to those people who can no longer get a refill for their medications?

Food Shortage: When the Shelves Go Bare

Most of today’s grocery stores operate on an in-time delivery system, and only a few products are being stocked in the physical stores. One disaster after another can wipe out a whole store clean. With the majority of households stocked with a food supply that can only last for three days, in cases of long-term disasters, your friendly neighbor might become one of the biggest threats in your life. Once people realize that they cannot feed themselves and their families, expect them to become raving and dangerous madmen.

All of these scenarios can possibly happen in the near future, and the secret to avoiding their negative effects is to prepare as early as now.
