Jose Salvador Alvarenga was found in an atoll in the Marshall Islands in early 2014. After he'd drifted to the area on a small fishing boat for 13 months after a storm killed his engine!
The amazing part: The journey started in Mexico -- more than 6,000 miles away from where he was found.
According to Alvarenga, he went on a one-day shark fishing trip in December 2012 with a friend -- Ezequiel Cordoba -- who didn't make it. Cordoba died 4 weeks into the journey as he couldn't manage to drink turtle blood and eat raw fish.
