These High Calorie Survival Foods Could Save Your Life

One of the most basic everyday survival items you can keep on hand is food & water.  It takes up a relatively small amount of space and you can store it on your person, in your home as well as your vehicles. However, having the right kind of food rations is extremely important in a survival situation.  Calories equal survival, so having food with high fat content is the absolute best way to get quick energy when you need it.  Especially in the winter months when the cold can steal heat from your body, eating a fast snack with fat laden calories is like putting on another layer of clothing. Your body will begin to metabolize the food immediately and you will start to feel an increase in your core temperature.

Some great foods you can keep around for emergency survival situations include:

  • peanut butter
  • meat in a can
  • survival rations
  • candy bars / dark chocolate
  • nuts
  • canned cheese
  • sardines
  • oats/oatmeal
  • raisins
